Evening arrival in Sapporo. Transfer to the hotel, check in, and have only a simple nearby dinner before resting; no sightseeing anchors.
Start with the hall during its Monday 10:00–14:00 opening, keeping the WWII-memory stop reflective rather than rushed, then cluster the market, central park, and arcade with seafood, cafés, and shopping time.
Want to tweak this itinerary?
Go directly from the museum to the adjacent Beer Garden for jingisukan lunch. Preserve the afternoon for rest, cafés, or shopping, then make the evening ropeway outing weather- and energy-dependent.
Dedicated frontier-history half-day focused on the open-air village and nearby museum. Allow at least three hours at the village and travel time; if energy is low, return to central Sapporo rather than rushing both.
Keep the canal and Sakaimachi Street together for a relaxed Otaru core with seafood, sweets, and browsing. Continue to Yoichi only after checking JR connections and last-entry timing; return to Sapporo late if the extension goes ahead.
Make this a full early-start countryside excursion by rental car or prebooked day tour, with a calm rural flow and an unhurried return to Sapporo. Early June can offer spring flowers and open landscapes, but do not promise peak lavender; plan a relaxed local lunch and photo stops rather than rushing.
Want to tweak this itinerary?
Transfer from Sapporo and settle into the three-night Jozankei stay. Prioritize a comfortable hotel or ryokan with private treatment rooms, couples massage, or bodywork; bathing is entirely optional and should not be the centerpiece. After check-in, take an easy town-and-riverside orientation walk, then enjoy dinner and, if desired, a short treatment. Keep the evening low-pressure and focused on scenery, good meals, and rest.
Use Futami Suspension Bridge as the gentle gorge-walk anchor, then leave generous unscheduled time. Choose only a reputable seasonal guided river activity suited to the weather and the couple's comfort; otherwise enjoy the valley slowly, with hotel meals and optional private spa treatments. Public bathing remains optional.
Make the main plan a scenic, low-pressure outing around Hoheikyo Dam and Jozankei Farm, allowing time for viewpoints, light walking, and whatever seasonal farm activity is operating. The Hōheikyō stop is optional as a bathing facility: use it for the surrounding valley and dam scenery if preferred, and do not make public bathing a fixed commitment. Return for a relaxed final dinner and optional massage or spa treatment.
Departure day. Keep the morning light for breakfast, checkout, and onward travel; bathing is optional and no public-bath activity is scheduled.
