Arrive at Sydney Airport at 9:20 AM, transfer to Shangri-La Sydney, and leave bags if the room is not ready. Keep this flexible and low-energy: light lunch around The Rocks or Circular Quay, Sydney Opera House exterior photographs, a short Royal Botanic Garden Sydney walk, and Sydney Harbour Bridge views. If energy, weather, and stairs permit, optionally walk onto the pedestrian walkway and continue only as far as comfortable; Pylon Lookout is optional if open. No BridgeClimb.

Breakfast, ferry to Taronga Zoo Sydney, ferry back to Circular Quay, hotel break, then relaxed dinner around The Rocks. Tickets are still to be booked.

Use Manly instead if windy, wet, less walking is preferred, or the group wants a harbour ferry. Only the afternoon can swap with the Blue Mountains; the Mandarin tour cannot move.

Intentionally open transfer day, not a whale-watching day. After lunch around Darling Harbour, Barangaroo, Darling Square, or Chinatown, choose based on weather and energy: Sydney Tower Eye for clear views; SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium for rain or a child-friendly indoor option; Australian National Maritime Museum; Ice Zoo Sydney; Playground at Darling Quarter; waterfront time; or rest. Verify Ice Zoo Groupon expiration, blackout dates, session booking, rentals, and pricing.

Private or small-group excursion, ideally departing W Sydney at 7:30–8:00 AM and returning early evening. Visit Echo Point, Three Sisters, Scenic World, a short rainforest boardwalk, and lunch in Leura or Katoomba. A guide/vehicle or suitable tour is still to be booked. Weather can swap this day with only the Aug. 8 afternoon; the Opera House tour remains fixed.

Return to W Sydney for luggage around 4:00 PM, leave around 4:15–4:30 PM for the 7:15 PM Jetstar flight, arrive Cairns about 10:25 PM, collect luggage, pick up the rental car, and drive to Pullman. Confirm the rental company knows about the late arrival.

Wind and sea state matter more than rain. Aug. 14 can absorb an operator reschedule if needed.

Flexible choice among Atherton Tablelands; Palm Cove plus Esplanade Lagoon and pool; Kuranda Scenic Railway; or a rain/fatigue Cairns city day with Aquarium, Botanic Gardens, lagoon, waterfront, and packing. Fitzroy Island and a second major wildlife attraction are intentionally excluded. This is also the contingency day for a Reef Magic reschedule.

The rest of the family follows the existing Cairns-to-Nadi-to-Dallas itinerary, departing Cairns at 12:40 PM and continuing to Nadi, then Dallas. Confirm the separate party's terminal, baggage, check-in, and connection requirements; the two groups therefore arrive in different cities and at different times on Aug. 16.
