Day 1
IXLMay 31
Day 1 — Sunday, 31 May: Delhi to Leh + acclimatization + nearby old-town stroll. You should reach your hotel by early afternoon; after check-in and lunch, rest for 2-3 hours.
Travel option: Pre-book hotel airport pickup or use a prepaid taxi from the airport. For the evening, use one short local cab hop if needed, but most of this plan is walkable at a slow pace once you are near the market.
Late afternoon / early evening (only if everyone feels normal): Explore Leh market, do a slow walk through the bazaar lanes, then see The Jamia Masjid - Leh District, Ladakh, India and Central Asian Museum from the same old-town area.
Optional extra: If energy is still good, spend more time browsing handicrafts, apricot products, pashmina, prayer flags, and dry fruit shops around the main market rather than adding another far attraction.
Lunch options: Keep lunch simple and vegetarian-friendly near the hotel or market — Lamayuru Restaurant is one of the easier veg-friendly picks, and HOTEL MANDALA is worth considering if you want Jain-style / vegetarian-friendly food.
Dinner options: For a first-night easy meal, choose Gesmo Restaurant for a broad menu and baked goods, or The Tibetan Kitchen if you want a classic well-known Leh dinner. Ask for simple veg / less spice on day 1.
Reality check: Do not rush, avoid stairs if possible, and keep dinner early. The goal is to cover the nearby market area without turning day 1 into a heavy sightseeing day.
Day 2
IXLJun 1
Day 2 — Monday, 1 June: Full Leh local day with views, culture, and cafés. Start with Shanti Stupa for panoramic views, continue to Leh Palace, then come back down into the old town and market area.
After lunch, visit Hall of Fame, and use the evening again for shopping in Leh market if you want more time there.
Travel option: Hire one local cab for the full day so the family can move comfortably between viewpoints and town without depending on repeated taxi negotiations.
Lunch options:Chopsticks Noodle Bar is a good well-known choice with strong veg options, while Lamayuru Restaurant works well if you want a more vegetarian-leaning menu.
Dinner options: Make this your nicer dinner night at Bon Appetit Restaurant French Bakery, which is one of Leh's most famous fine-dine style restaurants with great views; book ahead and request vegetarian dishes. If you want something more central and easier, go back to Gesmo Restaurant.
Food note: For Jain-style meals, call ahead and ask whether no-onion/no-garlic can be accommodated; that is more realistic than assuming a full dedicated Jain menu everywhere.

Day 3
IXLJun 2
Day 3 — Tuesday, 2 June: Bigger Sham Valley circuit with more coverage. Suggested route: Leh → Gurudwara Shri Pathar Sahib → Magnetic Hill → Sangam Point → Basgo gompa → Alchi Monastery - Choskhor → optionally Likir Gompa → Leh.
This is now a fuller sightseeing day, but still realistic if you start on time and keep each stop disciplined.
Travel option: Use a private Innova/Scorpio with a Ladakh driver for the whole day; this route is best done as one continuous circuit.
Lunch options: Best to have lunch en route near Alchi / the Sham Valley side where your driver suggests a clean stop, then return to Leh for dinner rather than trying to chase famous cafés on the road.
Dinner options: Back in Leh, keep dinner flexible — The Tibetan Kitchen for classic Ladakhi/Tibetan dishes, or Neha Snacks (Pure veg) if the family wants something more straightforward, vegetarian, and easier.
This day gives you rivers, forts, monasteries, geology, and road views without needing an overnight stay outside Leh.
Day 4
IXLJun 3
Day 4 — Wednesday, 3 June: Pangong Lake day trip with full scenery focus. Leave early from Leh, drive via Chang La Pass, continue to Pangong Tso, spend good time around the viewpoints and lakeside stretch, then return to Leh by evening.
This is the longest road day of the trip, so keep stops meaningful rather than frequent.
Travel option: A private SUV is essential here; ask the driver to plan one tea/snack halt each way and keep the itinerary flexible around road/weather conditions.
Lunch options: Keep lunch practical on this day — either a packed early snack from Leh or a simple veg meal / Maggi / tea stop near the Pangong side rather than expecting a polished restaurant experience.
Dinner options: Once back in Leh, choose something comfortable and satisfying like Gesmo Restaurant or Bon Appetit Restaurant French Bakery if you still want a proper sit-down meal.
Because this is already a heavy day, avoid trying to add Thiksey or Shey here.
Day 5
DELJun 4
Day 5 — Thursday, 4 June: Leh to Delhi. Keep the morning easy, pack calmly, and leave for the airport with comfortable buffer time.
Travel option: Hotel taxi or pre-arranged transfer is the simplest choice.
If you have time for one final casual meal before leaving, keep it close to your hotel or airport route rather than venturing far.
Brunch / early meal options:Neha Snacks (Pure veg) is a practical vegetarian-friendly choice, while HOTEL MANDALA is worth considering if Jain / vegetarian preference matters more on the last day.
Your afternoon return to Delhi is much more relaxed than an early-morning departure, so you should not feel rushed.
